Envoy Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Dec-2011
Bordeaux clone fruit from ‘E' and ‘A Blocks' in the ‘Johnson Estate', Spy Valley's oldest vines, fermented to 14.0% alc. and 3.7 g/L rs in French oak, then aged 12 months on lees in oak, a small portion undergoing MLF. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with a little hint of gold, pale on edge. This has a stylish, restrained and tightly bound nose of gooseberries and greengages with fine nutty oak infused and sensitively balanced with the fruit. Dry to taste, lush, lively acidity lifts the tropical, nectarine and greengage fruit flavours, providing superb poise, tension and cut. Fine spicy, nutty oak is melded harmoniously with the fruit, forming a depth, concentration and fine texture that promises to show more layers of nuance. The finish is very long and sustained, with excellent acid vitality and rich fruit nuances. Superbly handled with excellent oaking, this concentrated and stylishly complex Sauvignon will be a match with grilled seafood, roasted poultry and herb-marinated white meat dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 19.0-/20 Dec 2011 RRP $29.95
