Envoy Marlborough Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Jan-2013
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is very finely intense and penetrating with a complex combination of lime and lemon fruit with secondary honey, toast, a little kerosene and nuances of minerals and the seaside. Medium in sweetness, the palate features bright, racy and crisp acidity driving a cutting line and providing a zesty mouthfeel. The flavours of mineral-infused citrus fruit are entwined lush honied notes and piquant toast elements. Very fine in texture, the fruit is flows smoothly, enlivened by the acidity, which carries through to a long, racy and dry finish. This is a complex Riesling with secondary interest, and a palate posed between richness and raciness. Serve as an aperitif and with grilled shellfish over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the original Riesling vines, from ‘Johnson Estate' blocks ‘G' and ‘D', hand-picked, WBP, and partially oak fermented to 8.0% alc. and 69 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees 4 months. 18.5/20 Jan 2013 RRP $29.95
