Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 12-Oct-2012
☆☆☆☆☆
The first release of a Riesling from the ‘Pisa Terrace' vineyard, fermented in tank to 12.4% alc. and 8 g/L rs, the wine aged for 6 months in puncheons. Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is fresh and intense with white florals, lime and mineral nuances along with apple, and sweet and sour, nutty elements. Off-dry to taste, acacia and honeysuckle flavours form a delicate, clear line, driven by crisp, cutting, lacy acidity. The mouthfeel is smooth and fine-textured showing fine phenolic handling. Subtle apple and nutty nuances emerge in the glass adding to the sweet and sour notes, and the flavours carry through to a moderately sustained, gentle finish. This is a delicate Riesling showing sweet and sour flavours and a fine, crisp palate. Match with Thai and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 4+ years. 104 cases made. 16.5-/20 Oct 2012 RRP $24.00
