Ellero ‘Pisa Terrace’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 12-Oct-2012
☆☆☆☆☆
Moderately full, dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues on rim. This has a full, softly dense nose of ripe dark cherry fruit with aromatic, savoury herb notes and brown spices interwoven with charry, reductive nuances and smoke. Medium-bodied, soft, juicy and plush fruit flavours of dark cherries with brown spices and chocolate are supported by fine-grained tannins which build to gently fill the palate. Discreet acidity adds to the soft textures and mouthfeel, and the finish is long and lingering with spicy red fruit flavours. This is a soft, textured Pinot Noir with cherry and spice flavours. Match with Asian poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Dijon clones 667, 777 and 115, UCD5 and Abel clones from the ‘Pisa Terrace' vineyard fermented to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 14 months in French oak, 33% new. 210 dozen made. 17.5/20 Oct 2012 RRP $38.00
