Ellero Central Otago Gewurztraminer 2010

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Otago

Bright, pale, straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on edge. The bouquet is very light and subtle in expression, with delicate secondary hair-oil, savoury spice and herbal elements well-integrated and harmoniously expressed. Dry to taste and full-bodied, the flavours of rose-petals, savoury wild honey and hair-oil somewhat reserved and a little drying. Low acidity and soft textures provide a full, dense mouthfeel with roundness and weight. The wine is quite mellow and showing breadth and an underlying warmth from the alcohol. Subtly flavoured, this Gewurztraminer has developed secondary aromas and flavours and has become soft and dry in mouthfeel. Drink over the next 2 years with Asian cuisine. Fruit from 19 y.o. vines in Bannockburn, 80% fermented and aged 5 months on lees in a neutral 500 L puncheon to 14.3% alc. and 4 g/L rs. 55 cases made. 16.0+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $27.00 (Sold out)
