Pinot Noir from USA
Review Date : 11-May-2015
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is full, rounded and well-concentrated with deep aromas of savoury dark red berry and plum fruits melded with layers of nuts and dark herbs, unfolding some raspberry liqueur notes. Medium-full bodied, this has a fulsome mouthfeel sweet fruit flavours of dark red berry fruits infused with savoury plums, dark herbal notes and nutty oak. The fruit is supported by grainy tannin extraction and fresh lacy acidity lending a lively and textured mouthfeel. This has a plush, well-structured palate that carries with plenty of drive, leading to a fresh, fruity finish with good grip and some length. This is a rich, fruity, well-structured and lively Pinot Noir with savoury dark berried and herbal flavours. Match with duck, pork, lamb and beef over the next 6+ years. Pommard and Dijon clone fruit from the company’s vineyards supplemented with contract fruit, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new French oak. 17,300 cases made. 17.5/20 May 2015 RRP $47.95
