Elk Cove Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from USA
Review Date : 11-May-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is fresh and clean with light and pure aromas of white florals and stonefruits, tightly bound, but revealing thirst-quenching mineral and nutty elements reminiscent of Pinot Grigio. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, restrained fruit flavours of stonefruits and florals are entwined with mineral, flint and honied notes. The palate possesses a subtle, underlying core with some alcohol power and drive, and follows a soft-textured line. Discreet acidity enhances the gentle mouthfeel, and the wine carries to a light-flavoured, dry finish with lingering nuances of stonefruits, nuts and flint. This is a fresh, clean, dryish Pinot Gris with subtle stonefruit and mineral flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and most white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit from sites in the northern Willamette Valley, WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. 26,500 cases made. 17.0+/20 May 2015 RRP $33.95
