Elephant Hill Pinot Noir 2022, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 26-Jan-2024
Moderately light ruby-red, lighter with purple on the rim. The nose is gently full, with depth, penetrating black cherry and plum aromas intermixed with sweet spice, herbs, and earth. Medium-bodied, black cherry and plum aromas form a sweet core, unfolding black pepper, cinnamon, thyme, vanilla and subtle earthy elements. The fruit is ripe with elegant balance, flaunting succulent fruit and an integrated acid line. Silky tannins lightly coat the palate and lend a moreish finish. Match with duck and pork over the next 5 years. Fruit from Alexandra (74%), Lowburn (21%) and Bendigo (5%), fermented to 13.5% alc, aged in French barriques for 11 months, 22% new oak, unfined. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Jan 2024 RRP $39
