Brilliant, pale straw-yellow colour with gale green hues, light ion rim. The nose is initially restrained, but builds with good intensity to show white and yellow stonefruit kernel aromas with soft talc and musk elements along with subtle flint and mineral nuances. Dryish to taste, the clean, crisp and cutting acidity is counterbalanced by delicately succulent and luscious stonefruit flavours. The palate has good weight and intensity with some underlying alcoholic and a fine phenolic thread. The mouthfeel is brisk and lively with a firmness that carries to a moderately long finish. This is a dry Pinot Gris with some fruit sweetness and a firm, crisp and cutting mouthfeel. Serve with Mediterranean inspired fare over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the company’s Te Awanga vineyard, hand-picked and fermented with a portion in older oak barriques to 13.5% alc. and 3.8 g/L rs, the wine aged on light lees for 3 months. 17.5/20 Apr 2013 RRP $29.00
