Elephant Hill Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Sep-2013
Bright straw-yellow colour with light lemon-green and golden hues. This has a full and deep nose of fresh, ripe, savoury citrus fruit and yellow stonefruit aromas entwined with complex nutty oak and barrel-ferment notes. Medium-full bodied, savoury citrus fruit and nutty, creamy barrel flavours reveal nutty notes and butterscotch nuances. The flavours build in concentration unfolding waves of rich detail. The mouthfeel is dry and textured, providing palate structure, and is driven by the underlying acidity, which carries the flavours to a very long and sustained finish with savoury citrus and nutty notes. This is a complex Chardonnay that unfolds waves of citrus and nutty flavours on a dry, textural palate. Match with roasted poultry and pork over the next 4-5+ years. Hand-picked Te Awanga fruit WBP and fully barrel-fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 20% new 228 L French oak barrels, with 25% MLF. 18.0/20 Sep 2013 RRP $29.00
