Very dark, deep, ruby-red colour with light purple hues on rim, youthful on rim. The nose is full with fresh aromas of vibrant and perfumed black cherry and dark red berry fruits entwined with thyme herbs, unfolding subtle dried herbal complexities with aeration. The nose is finely presented with intensity and depth. Medium-full bodied, rich flavours of dark red berry, black cherry and plums fill the mouth. The wine reveals savoury herbal nuances and interest, and the flavours flow smoothly across the palate with very fine-grained, supple tannins in support. The structure and extraction grows in presence, forming a positive core and line, and is enlivened by discreet acidity, leading to a fine-textured, grainy, lingering finish with soft red plum and thyme herb elements. This is a smooth and harmonious Pinot Noir with herb-nuanced berry and cherry fruit and fine-grained tannin structure. Match with pork, lamb and beef over the next 5-6 years. Hand-picked fruit from two vineyards, one in Tarras and the other in Alexandra, given a cold soak and fermented with 5% whole cluster to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. 18.0+/20 Feb 2015 RRP $34.00
