Element Wines Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Feb-2017
Dark, deep, purple-hued black-red colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full with gentle volume of blackberry fruit along with subtle notes of boysenberries melded with black pepper, savoury dark herbs and mineral nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate is rounded with gently rich and softly mouthfilling flavours of blackberries along with savoury boysenberry, black pepper, dark herb and mineral elements. The fruit is underlined by soft, supple tannin extraction and ripe acidity. The wine flows smoothly to a light finish of black fruits, pepper and herbs. This is a soft, supple-textured Syrah with blackberry and black peppery fruit with savoury herb and mineral layers. Serve with Middle Eastern lamb dishes over the next 4 years. Chave clone Syrah fruit, destemmed and fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 3 months in neutral seasoned barrels. 170 dozen made. 17.5-/20 Feb 2017 RRP $25.00
