Elefante VdT Castilla Tempranillo/Shiraz 2011

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 20-Aug-2013
Full, impenetrable black-purple colour, near saturated. The bouquet is aromatic with robust dark plum, boysenberry and jammy, whole berry fermentation notes, along with violet floral elements. Medium-full bodied, bright and juicy flavours of plums and boysenberries fill the mouth. This is fulsome and fleshy on palate, the flavours supported by soft, supple tannins. The mouthfeel is rounded plump and warm, with a little alcohol generosity adding to the body. The sweet and jammy nuanced fruit is carried to a soft, moderately long finish. This is a soft, plump and juicy Tempranillo-based Spanish wine to match with rich pasta and most Mediterranean-themed red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. 70% Tempranillo and 30% Shiraz from Castilla la Mancha, the blend including 15% Tempranillo from San Vicente, Rioja, aged in barrel. 14.0% alc. 17.5/20 Aug 2013 RRP $19.99
