‘El Tresor’ means ‘The Treasure’. Made by Bodegas Juan Gil, a blend of 75% Monastrell and 25% Shiraz from 20-30 y.o. vines in Junilla, the fruit grown organically and stainless-steel fermented to 14.0% alc. Very dark, black-red colour, near impenetrable at heart, lighter ruby on rim. The nose is elegantly presented with aromas of ripe, spicy black berry fruits with red fruits, herbs and tapenade entwined, revealing pepper and jammy notes. Medium-full bodied, this has up-front, sweetly ripe flavours of black and red berry fruits intermingling with jam and pepper. The palate has dry, granular tannins that carry the fruit, with unobtrusive acidity. Some alcohol warmth grows and combines with the tannins to lead to a generous, textural and dry finish. This is a medium-bodied, up-front, ripe Jumilla Spanish red with tannin textures and some alcohol warmth. Match with pizza, pasta and barbecued food over the next 3-4 years. Feb 2014 RRP $15.00
