Made by Bodegas Juan Gil, 75% Monastrell and 24% Shiraz, from the north-east Jumilla region, fermented to 14.0% alc. Fruit grown organically. Full, deep, dark ruby-red colour with youthful black hues. The nose is gently full and voluminous with a deep core of savoury dark red berry fruit aromas along with black cherries and an earthy, resinous amalgam with liquorice and jam notes. Medium-full bodied, bright, up-front, ripe fruit flavours of black and red fruits show alongside raspberry jam and cherry liqueur elements. The palate has a vigorous mouthfeel with grainy tannin textures and some alcohol warmth and drive. The fruit is a feature, with restrained acidity in the background. The extract grows in prominence and carries the palate through to a dry, grainy and grippy-textured finish. This is a fulsome, Jumilla Spanish red with savoury, near-jammy fruit with plenty of alcohol drive and tannin grip.
