Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 22-Dec-2017
Even, moderately dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim with a hint of purple. The nose is elegant in proportion with very good depth and intensity of dark-red cherry and berryfruits, the aromatics just beginning to show harmoniously melded savoury dark herb and nutty oak notes. The fruit is finely concentrated unveiling black floral and mineral elements. Medium-bodied, the palate has elegantly concentrated flavours of dark-red and black berry fruit with notes of dark herbs, liquorice, savoury spices with nutty oak and black mineral complexity. The palate has fine-grained tannin extraction, and soft, ripe acidity providing good presence. The wine carries with good energy to a long, lingering finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, dark-red and black fruited Pinot Noir with liquorice, herb and spice notes and nutty oak on a fine-textured palate. Match with duck, pork, beef and lamb over the next 5-6 years. Clones 5, 115 and 667, the fruit hand-picked, destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 25% new French oak. 18.5/20 Dec 2017 RRP $38.00
