Egon Muller ‘Scharzhof’ Mosel Riesling 2008

Riesling from Germany
Review Date : 31-Jan-2012
QbA wine from the Saar, Mosel. Very pale straw colour, some green hues. This is extremely fine and tight on bouquet with white florals, wet stones and minerals, quite muted. Suggestion of reduction, and also TCA. Off-dry to taste, exacerbated somewhat by the elevated acidity. Tight and rather restrained in expression, the palate showing mineral and flinty flavours, as well as reduction. TCA notes initially showing clear up and disappear. If not corked, this is a little ungenerous and pinched at present. The textures are fine. Maybe it will reveal more and soften with time? 10.5% alc. 16.5-/20  Jan 2012
