Earthworks Barossa Shiraz 2016

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 30-Apr-2017
Full, even, black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a softly packed and dense nose with good volume of ripe blackberry fruit entwined with dark-red berry fruit, along with notes of black pepper, liquorice and spices and black earth. The vinosity is positive on the nose, with the fruit expression a little restrained. Full-bodied, the palate has a core of ripe, stylishly restrained blackberry and dark raspberry fruit harmoniously entwined with notes of liquorice, plums, black pepper and spices. The fruit has richness and is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, and is supported by fine-textured tannin extraction. This has good energy, vitality and drive, and the palate leads to a sustained and nuanced finish of black fruits, liquorice and spice. This is a vibrant and lively Shiraz with stylishly restrained flavours of ripe blackberries, raspberries and subtle notes of pepper and spice on a fine-textured palate. Serve with game meat dishes and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4+ years. Barossa fruit fermented to 14.5% alc. 17.5-/20 May 2017 RRP $22.50
