Earthworks Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 30-Apr-2017
Dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is soft and gently voluminous with moderately deep and finely concentrated aromas of ripe blackberry fruit along with fragrant notes of blackcurrants and cassis, all harmoniously intertwined. The nose unveils black mineral nuances with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has intense, bright and lively flavours of blackcurrants and blackberries with subtle notes of cassis and mint herb. The mouthfeel is refreshing and lively with lacy acidity, and the fruit is supported by dry, fine-grained, positive tannin extraction and structure. This has linearity, and the wine carries with good energy and tension, leading to a fine-textured, lingering blackcurranty finish. This is a fresh and elegantly concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with blackberry, blackcurrant cassis and minty flavours on a lively, fine-textured palate. Match with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Barossa fruit fermented to 14.0% alc. 17.5/20 May 2017 RRP $22.50
