Earth’s End Central Otago Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 22-Jul-2015
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on rim. The nose is firm and tightly concentrated with aromas of ripe black berry and dark red cherry fruit entwined with black mineral elements, a touch of reduction and lifted thyme herb nuances providing freshness. Red floral unfold in the glass. Medium-full bodied, this has a tight and well-concentrated core of luscious and ripe black cherry and dark red berry fruits that unfold subtle plum, liquorice and raspberry liqueur elements. The fruit is bright, aromatic and sweet, and backed by fine-grained tannin extraction that carries the wine to a soft-textured, long, dry finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, ripe, black fruited Pinot Noir with sweet fruit and fine background tannins. Serve with duck, pork and lanb dishes over the next 4+ years. Multi-clone blend with 667, 777, Abel, 5, 114 and 115, from the ‘Morrison’, ‘Muirkirk’, ‘Montero’, ‘Aravin’ and ‘Archangel’ sites’ indigenous yeast fermented with under 10% whole clusters to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 20% new French oak. 17.5/20 Jul 2015 RRP $29.00
