E. Guigal Cote du Rhone Rouge 2018, France

Blended Red from France - Rhone
Review Date : 23-Mar-2022
Full, even, deep crimson, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is powerful and lifted with aromas of red berries, plums, raspberry liqueur interwoven with a subtle meatiness and spice. Full-bodied, aromas of plums, red berries melded with raspberry liqueur, subtle meaty nuance enriched the palate, lingering with a hint of spice on the finish. The fruit is succulent with balanced acidity. Smooth, grainy tannins added texture. This is a classic Cote du Rhone with juicy berry fruit and a meaty richness on a smooth-flowing palate. Match with roasted lamb and game over the next 3-4 years. A blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, fermented in stainless steel to 14.5% alc, aged in oak foudres for 18 months. 17.5+/20 (89pts) Mar 2022 RRP $29.95
