Dunstan Road Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Oct-2016
Ruby-red colour with slight purple hues and some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fresh and bright with fragrant aromas of dark-red cherry fruit and raspberry liqueur, with red liquorice notes, unfolding thyme herb elements with dark-red and violet florals. Medium-bodied, the palate is up-front with bright and vibrant fruit flavours of dark-red cherry fruit along with red liquorice, raspberries and a layering of thyme herbs. The fruit has good depth and underlined by fine-grained, supple tannins at the core, with enlivening, crisp acidity. The palate has a positive line and carries with good energy to a cherry fruit focussed finish with good length. This is a bright, vibrant, cherry-fruited Pinot Noir with supple tannins and a lively mouthfeel. Match with tapas and antipasto, and with poultry and pork dishes over the next 4 years. A blend of clones Abel, 10/5, 777, 667, 114 and 115, fully destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 30% new French oak barriques. 17.0+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $35.95
