Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 03-Nov-2014
Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with light, youthful purple hues on edge. The nose is tightly concentrated and elegantly presented with aromas of black cherry fruit infused with chalky mineral notes, along with nutty oak and nuances of pepper. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, the palate features a tight and firmly bound core of dark red cherry fruit. Subtle nutty oak elements add detail and interest. The tannins are fine-grained and well-integrated, the acidity quite discreet, lending a positive freshness. The palate is rounded and flows smoothly and seamlessly, leading to a light, cherry-fruited finish. This is an elegant and smooth-textured Pinot Noir with a tight core of cherry flavours. Match with antipasto, firm-fleshed seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Dunstan Road’ vineyard, Alexandra, fully destemmed and fermented with 10% by wild yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in one-third new French oak. 250 dozen made. 17.0+/20 Nov 2014 RRP $45.00
