Dunnolly Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2017

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 07-Jul-2018
Dark ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the edge with garnet hues. The nose is soft and full with aromas of fresh strawberries along with dark herbs, unfolding red floral notes. This has a fine, tight core with mineral, nutty and toasty elements that emerge with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate is brisk and racy with a core of strawberry and cherry fruit entwined with fresh and dark herbs. The fruit is a little in the cool-spectrum, but has depth and is enlivened by zesty acidity and underlined by light, fine-grained tannin extraction and grip lending positive structure. The wine has linearity and carries to a long finish of strawberries and herbs. This is a bright and lively Pinot Noir with cooler strawberry and cherry fruit entwined with herbs on a racy palate with grip and texture. Match with duck and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. Clones 10/5 and 777, from the home vineyard, destemmed and fermented to 12.76% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Jul 2018 RRP $39.99
