Dumangin Champagne 1er Cru ‘Premium Blanc de Blanc’ NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 06-Dec-2012
100% Chardonnay from Chigny Les Roses, with 30% reserve wine, on lees 4 years, with 10 g/L dosage. Pale straw-yellow colour with some depth, fine and persistent bead. The bouquet is full, bold and up-front with plenty of aldehyde and toast aromas from oxidative winemaking and bottle development. Nutty notes intermingle with yellow stonefruits, and some TCA cork taint is noticeable. Dry to taste, this is soft and lush in texture, the mouthfeel smooth and harmonious. The flavours are gentle with floral notes, and some autolysis supports the fruit. TCA mustiness is present and the fruit expression is somewhat muted. Despite the taint, this has softness and attractive fruit with nutty interest. 16.5/20 Dec 2012 100% Ch. from a single vineyard, based on 70% 2005 vintage with 30% reserve wine, 10 g/L rs, on lees 4 years. Very pale straw-yellow in colour, this has a softly full nose of exotic florals and gentle, nutty-toasty aromas of autolysis. Dryish to taste, the soft white florals and citrus, mineral flavours have a subtle, rounded breadth, yet the sense of delicacy pervades this wine. Not nearly as crisp and piercing as a Cote de Blancs wine. Serve as an aperitif, or with seafood, especially shellfish over the next 3-5 years.  17.5+/20 Mar 2011
