Duca di Saragnano ‘Vecciano’ Toscana IGT 2008

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 20-Dec-2012
A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon fermented to 13.0% alc. and aged 18 months in Slavonian barriques. Very full, dark, deep black-red colour, near saturated, with youthful purple hues. The nose is a showcase of ripe, lifted berry fruit and plum aromas, with raspberries and boysenberries, along with fragrant esters and red florals, red liquorice and oak spices. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, up-front sweet, lush and succulent flavours of ripe black fruits are intermixed with liquorice, toast, mocha and chocolate, and fill the palate. Fine-grained tannins underline the fruit adding to the concentration and drive. Fresh, bright acidity provides good energy to the juiciness, carrying blackberry and boysenberry flavours to good, deep, linear finish. This is a sweet and fruity Modern Tuscan red to match with hearty red meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. 17.0/20 Dec 2012 RRP $42.00
