Duca di Saragnano Chianti DOCG 2011

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 20-Dec-2012
Very dark, deep, near saturated black-red colour with purple hues. This has a full, solid nose, a little restrained in expression, showing primary black cherry fruits, nuances of black plums, with fragrant dark florals and pepper. Medium-bodied, juicy, sweet and lush fruity flavours of dark cherries and plum jam are supported by mellow, supple tannins. The mouthfeel is soft and grainy, and carries the palate to a lush finish with hints of bitter cherries and a little earthiness. This is a soft, mellow, juicy-fruited modern Chianti with the textures to match most flavoursome pasta, pizza and barbecued foods over the next 3+ years. A blend of Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo, fermented to 13.0% alc. 16.0+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $16.00
