Duca di Saragnano Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2007

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 20-Dec-2012
Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with garnet hues on edge. The bouquet is elegant and slender in proportion, with penetrating aromas of savoury, dark cherry fruit along with notes of game, dried herbs and wood that add interest. Medium-full bodied, fine and intense flavours of dark, bitter cherries and secondary, savoury dried herbs are seamlessly entwined. Supple, fine-grained tannins form a firm, but refined palate line, and with the soft acidity, the wine flows effortlessly. The flavours are expressed with a drying elegance, the textures carrying through to a long and sustained finish with earthy-cherry nuances. This is an elegant, traditionally styled, fine textured Brunello di Montalcino that is beginning to show some development interest. Match with roasted lamb or beef, and with firm cheeses over the next 4-5+ years. Sangiovese fruit fermented to 14.0% alc. 17.0+/20 Dec 2012 RRP $56.00
