Dry River Martinborough Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 02-Oct-2015
13.0% alc., 20.0 g/L RS, TA 5.1 g/L, pH 3.4. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues. The nose is full with ripe stonefruit and tropical fruit aromas lifted by yellow florals and enriched by honeysuckle notes, and complexed by subtle herb and spice detail. Medium in sweetness, the palate is fulsome and open with good weight and mouthfilling presence. The fruit flavours ae ripe, but show attractive exotic floral layers along with honey, spices and herbs. The mouthfeel is harmonious in flow with fine textures and phenolic structure in support, and carries to an elegant, off-dry, well-concentrated finish. This combines opulence and richness with fine textures and a degree of elegance. 19.0-/20 Sep 2015 RRP $N/A Pinot Gris from the ‘Dry River Estate' and ‘Craighall' sites, stainless-steel fermented to 13.0% alc. and 25 g/L rs. The fruit clean without any botrytis influence. Brilliant, very pale straw colour with some green hues, pale on rim. This has a voluminous nose with subtle, but deep aromas of yellow stonefruits, honied pears and steely minerals. Medium-dry to medium to taste, this has gentle, but lush flavours of ripe pears and stonefruits that build and fill the palate, becoming concentrated. The textures are smooth and rounded, with very well-balanced alcohol body, fine, fresh acidity and a hint of oiliness. Long lingering flavours of honey and pears mark the finish. Match this rich, gently luscious and composed Pinot Gris with white meats, pate and terrines over the next 4-5+ years. 18.5+/20 Feb 2012 RRP $55.00
