Dry River ‘Lovat’ Martinborough Gewurztraminer 2011

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 24-Feb-2012
Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour, very pale on edge. The bouquet is one of tight delicacy with subtle and fine florals along with herbs and steely minerals as well as musk notes which blossom in the glass. Medium to taste, the flavours of rose petal florals are very pure and refined, with excellent intensity and concentration forming a core to the palate line. Beautiful, racy acidity underlines subtle oily textures, providing cut, freshness and stylish restraint. The finish is a highlight, being softly rich and very long, showing flavours of honey and musk. Made from clean fruit with no botrytis from 19 y.o. vines from the ‘Lovat' vineyard fermented to 14.0% alc. and 20 g/L rs. This is a refined, but concentrated Gewurztraminer with bright acidity that will become richer over the next 4-6 years. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian pork dishes and semi-firm cheeses. 18.5+/20 Feb 2012 RRP $45.00
