Dry River ‘Lovat’ Martinborough Gewurztraminer 2010

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 01-Mar-2011
Brilliant light green-hued straw gold, this is youthful in appearance, and has a very fine, tightly bound, exotic nose of herbs, ginger, roses and Turkish Delight underlined with honey. Medium-dryish to taste, with 25 g/L rs, the flavours of exotic spices, rose florals, ginger and lychee are striking in richness, as is the smooth, unctuous, near-oily textures. The seamlessness of the mouthfeel and excellent acidity lend a real elegance to the wine and feature on the long, sustained finish. The wine is superbly balanced and the 13.5% alc. provides an understated power that will see it live for 5-7 years. Made from 18 y.o. vines from the ‘Lovat' vineyard. Match with Middle Eastern, Asian and Pacific Rim cuisine. 19.5-/20 Feb 2011 RRP $42.00
