Dry River ‘Dry River Estate’ Martinborough Viognier 2012

Viognier from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 26-Sep-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with pale, lemon-green hues, light on edge. Elegant and very fine aromas of white florals, citrus zest and just-ripened apricots are nuanced by subtle hints of herbs. The bouquet is concentrated, detailed and steely in expression. Dry to taste, the palate is smooth textured and gently unctuous showing pure and lifted floral, zest and herb flavours all interwoven and balanced by fine, lacy acidity. The mouthfeel is seamless in flow, with an underlying drive and power that carries the palate to a very long and delicate finish. This is an elegant Viognier in the cooler spectrum with exotic flavours and a steely finesse. Match with seafood over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Paper Road' and ‘Dry River' estate blocks, vines 7 y.o. and 12 y.o. respectively, WBP and cool stainless-steel fermented to 13.7% alc. and c.5 g/L rs with no lees work. 18.0/20 Sep 2012 RRP $45.00
