The first release of a ‘Selection’ Riesling, blended from a number of pickings from the ‘Craighall’ vineyard to make a sweeter style, rather than made from one pass of late-harvested fruit. This is 9.0% alc. and 50 g/L RS, TA 7.2 g/L and pH 2.88. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh and mouth-watering with pure aromas of lime and lemon fruit, along with subtly lifted white florals and minerally notes. The fruit has depth and a fine, tight intensity, the aromatics expressed with clarity and purity. Medium-sweet and light-bodied, the fruit flavours of limes and lemon are infused with mineral elements and enriched with a honied, musky layering, forming a tight, focussed core. The sweetness and fruit richness is balanced by slippery, steely and cutting acidity, and the palate flows with plenty of tension along a crisp, dry, thirst-quenching line, carrying through to a long, refreshing finish. This is an elegant, finely focussed medium-sweet Riesling with rich lime and lemon, and honied flavours.
