Dry River ‘Amaranth’ Martinborough Late Harvest Riesling 2010

Riesling from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 23-Apr-2011
An excellent interpretation of the German spatlese style at 9.5% alc. and 60 g/L rs. Fruit from the ‘Craighall' vineyard, late-picked with no botrytis. Brilliant pale straw-yellow with green hues to the colour, this has a very fine, delicate and tight nose of lime fruits, sherbet, minerals, honey and a little talc. Surprisingly off-dry to taste, this displays extremely beautiful flavours of limes, floral potpourri and minerals, and is lifted by nuances of honey and blossom. The acidity is bracing and perfectly counter-poises the silky, rich fruit textures. The finish is crisp, clean and very long, with nuances that promise to develop real interest and complexity over the next 10+ years. Drink as an aperitif, or with subtle fruit desserts. 19.0-/20 Feb 2011 RRP $59.00
