Drumsara ‘Evoke’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago

☆☆☆☆☆
Even ruby-red colour with light purple hues, youthful in appearance, and lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full and light with moderately deep aromas of dark-red cherry fruit along with violet floral perfumes, and some minerally reduction. Medium-full bodied, the palate is finely concentrated with softly bound flavours of dark-red cherry fruit with subtle thyme herb and red floral notes. The reductive elements are in the background and unobtrusive. This has restrained fruit sweetness, but the palate possesses freshness and vitality, and follows a dry, fine-grained line with integrated acidity, leading to a slender, lingering, dry finish with herb and cherry nuances. This is an elegant and slender Pinot Noir with some reductive notes, and a gently concentrated, sweet and vibrant flavoured palate that follows a fine, dry line. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Predominantly clone 5, with 667, 777 and 115, from the ‘Drumsara’ vineyard, vines 8-10 y.o., fermented with 10% whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 18 days on skins and aged 10 months in 10% new oak. 16.5+/20 Jun 2016 RRP $TBA
