Drake Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from Australia - Victoria
Review Date : 08-Mar-2016
Brilliant, pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is elegantly presented with aromas of citrus and white stonefruits, along with a delicate layer of flinty minerals and nutty oak. The aromatics are fresh, pure and mouthwatering. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses a tightly bound heart of citrus fruits, white stonefruits, nuts and flint. The mouthfeel is refreshing and steely with thirst-quenching, lacy acidity. This is slender in proportion with good linear drive carrying the wine to a lingering finish with lemon-curd MLF and stonefruit nuances. This is a tight, crisp and refreshing Chardonnay with citrus, stonefruit and mineral flavours. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. Fruit from a single site in the Coldstream district of the Yarra Valley, from 15 y.o. vines, two thirds stainless-steel fermented with high solids, and one-third indigenous yeast fermented and aged 6 months in 2 and 3 y.o. French oak with full MLF. The wine is 13.0% alc. Winemakers: Tim Shand, Nicholas Crampton and Matt Dunne. 17.0+/20 Mar 2016 RRP AUS$23.00
