Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 17-Dec-2014
Bright, light golden straw-yellow colour, paler on rim. The nose is fresh and up-front with vibrant aromas of exotic yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits, with yellow florals integrated with layers of honeysuckle and minerally lees elements. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features tightly bound flavours of yellow stonefruits and exotic florals infused with flinty lees and mineral complexities. This has a very fine textural thread and lacy, racy acidity lending excellent linearity. The wine has a steely freshness, and carries through to a dry, very finely textured, zesty finish. This is a crisp, racy and steely off-dry Pinot Gris with exotic fruit flavours and minerally complexities. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Lone Hill’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 5.3 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 18.0/20 Dec 2014 RRP $22.00
