Dr Renwick Marlborough Chardonnay 2008

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Jun-2012
Fruit hand-picked and WBP, 30% fermented in seasoned oak barrels to 13.5% alc. and 7.5 g/L rs. The wine was given 8 months lees contact. Bright, pale-golden straw colour, lighter on edge. Full savoury stonefruit and citrus fruit aromas with some butttery MLF notes form a dense amalgam with complexing secondary flint and nutty nuances underlying on the nose. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this is full and broad with soft savoury citrus fruit flavours interwoven with almondy-nutty notes, cream and oak toast. The mouthfeel is dry but the MLF counters the slight austerity, but this has presence. The nutty flavours lead to a dry, slightly warm, buttery finish with some toastiness. This is a full, savoury Chardonnay with some nutty development. Serve with creamy poultry dishes over the next 2 years. 16.0/20 Jun 2012 RRP $15.20
