Dona Fatima Jampal 2019, Lisboa, Portugal

Jampal from Portugal
Review Date : 08-Jun-2021
Bright, pale yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is full and welcoming, aromas of apple, pear and tropical fruit melded with an amalgam of spices and subtle creaminess. Medium-full bodied, the palate is unctuous and creamy with bright spices and tropical melon fruit, pear interweave nutty oak details and saline on the finish. Battonage (lees stir) created a silky and creamy texture. There is a good balance of acidity and ripe fruit; spices tickle the palate with salinity drives a sustained, refreshing finish. This is a round palate medium-full bodied white with generous fruit, a spicy palate and a saline drive. Match with sweet & sour pork and whitefish over the next 3-5 years. 100% Jampal (the only wine in the world produced exclusively from this variety) sourced from the village of Cheleiros. Destemmed, pre-ferment maceration, fermented in stainless steel to 14% alc. Aged in French oak for 6 months, regularly stirred lees. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) June 2021 RRP $39.99
