Domaine Rewa Chardonnay 2019, Central Otago

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 01-Apr-2022
Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is softly full and enticing, with aromas of citrus and stonefruit entwined with roasted hazelnut, kernels and spice. Medium-full bodied, nuances growing in volume on the palate, lemon, grapefruit, peach interweave roasted hazelnuts, kernels and creamy, delicate spices lightly coated the palate. The wine is well-balanced with pure, succulent fruit and well-proportioned barrel details. It's smooth-flowing with fine-textured phenolics adorned the mouthfeel, leaving an elegant, chalky, long finish. This is an elegantly presented Chardonnay with perfectly ripe fruit, poised barrel structure on a fine line and texture. Match with roasted guinea fowl and tiger prawns over the next 5-7 years. Handpicked Mendoza and Clone 15 Chardonnay, whole bunch pressed, wild-fermented in French oak barriques to 13.5% alc, aged in oak for 9 months, 36% new oak, underwent MLF, and lees stirred weekly. No fining. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Mar 2022 RRP $55
