Brilliant straw-yellow colour, pale edged. The nose is stylishly concentrated with intense and penetrating aromas of white stonefruits and subtle citrus fruit notes entwined with complexing flinty, mineral reduction and melded with underlying nutty and toasty oak notes, and some creamy barrel-ferment suggestions. This has balance and detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate is well-proportioned with finely concentrated core of white stonefruits, citrus fruits and complexing flint and mineral notes. The palate has creamy and nutty oak balanced by fine phenolic textures and crisp, lacy acidity, and the wine flows with good energy and line, leading to a lingering finish of stonefruit, flinty minerals and toasty oak. This is an elegantly concentrated Chardonnay with complex stonefruit, flint, nutty and toasty flavours on a balanced, fresh, fine-textured palate. Match with grilled seafood and roasted poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Epicurious’ vineyard, WBP and indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 14.4% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 25% new oak, undergoing batonnage, and full MLF. 18.5/20 Jan 2017 RRP $37.00 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
