Domaine Lafage ‘Tessellae’ Cotes du Roussillon Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre 2014

Blended Red from France - Other
Review Date : 06-Sep-2016
Dark uby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on the rim. This has a gently full and moderately deep nose of vibrant dark-red berry and dark raspberry fruit melded with a harmonious layering of dark herbs. The aromatics build in volume and intensity with aeration. Medium-full bodied, rich and juicy raspberry and dark-red berry fruit flavours are lifted by florals and jam-like nuances of whole berry fermentation, and complexed by integrated notes of dark herbs. The mouthfeel is rounded with a mellow core and flows smoothly, the palate underlined by soft, fine, supple tannins. Balanced acidity enhances the harmony. The wine has some alcohol drive that carries the flavours to a fine-textured, softly concentrated, lingering finish of red fruits, spices and herbs. This is a rich, juicy, red-fruited Cotes du Roussillon GSM blend with a rounded and supple mouthfeel and lingering finish. Match with roasted and grilled lamb and beef dishes over the next 4 years. A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, vines up to 70 y.o., hand-picked and tank-fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine on skins 30 days and aged 12 months in concrete tanks. 18.0/20 Sep 2016 RRP $19.99
