Domaine Faiveley Nuits St Georges 1er ‘Les Porets St Georges’ 2010

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 08-Jul-2014
Light garnet-hued ruby-red with a hint of brick on rim. The bouquet is initially elegant and tight, revealing a deep, concentrated and rounded core with aeration. Aromas of dark red berry fruits are entwined with hints of liquorice and a suggestion of game, providing development interest and detail. Quite tightly bound on palate and restrained in expression, the fruit is subtly rich and shows its sweet core gradually. The palate features a fine-grained tannin line, the acidity quite discreet, and the wine is carried to a long, gentle finish. A fine featured Nuits-St-Georges, still to unfold. Keep 6-8 years. From 1.68 ha, from vines up to 53 y.o., the wine aged 14-16 months in oak, two-thirds new. Average 665 cases made. 17.5/20 Jul 2014 RRP $122.99 Light, bright, purple-hued ruby-red colour. The bouquet is very fine and penetrating with beautifully aromatic dark red berry fruit and florals. On palate, this is tightly concentrated and very firm with fine-grained tannins underlining ripe and vibrant flavours of dark berry fruits and plums, violets and spices. The acidity provides real drive and vitality to the fruit and enlivens the palate with freshness. The acidity contributes to the long finish. This is a vibrant and aromatic Nuits St Georges wine of real refinement to its classical firmness. It will develop well over the next 10-15+ years. 18.5+/20 Jul 2012 RRP $117.95
