Domaine des Pothiers Eclipse Methode Ancestrale 2019, Loire

Sparkling Wine from France - Loire
Review Date : 01-Dec-2021
Moderate, burnt-orange colour, even throughout. Subtle, fine bead. The nose is softly full, creamy entry with a hint of wet leaf, suggestions of medicinal herb underlying ripe stonefruit and strawberry. Medium-bodied, medium-dry to taste, aromas of sweet stonefruit, ripe strawberry interweave herb and floral, and a hint of earth. A moderate grip of tannin extraction swelled as the mousse filled the palate, leaving a smooth, fragranced rich tea grip and stony minerals. The fruit has a pure core, supported by balanced acidity. This is a medium-dry Methode Ancestrale with pure fruit, minerals and a smooth tannin grip. Match with chilli beef stir-fry and onion & cheese tart over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from Cote Roannaise in the Northern Loire Valley, 100% Gamay Saint-Romain, produced by Ancestrale method (pet-nat), directly pressed at low-temperature, bottling before the end of the fermentation, bottle fermentation, disgorging, rested in bottle for 6-10 months before released. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Dec 2021 RRP $40
