Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 07-Nov-2022
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow with a slight green tinge. The nose is gentle, stonefruit, tropical fruit melded with nettle, floral and a hint of flint. Medium-bodied, aromas of ripe nectarine, guava and passionfruit entwined with elderflower, flint and nettle. The mouthfeel is soft and creamy with weight and a smooth flow; lively, integrated acidity carries citrus zest along with fine-textured phenolics throughout the palate, lending a flinty, lightly spiced finish. This complex, gentle Sauvignon Blanc features savoury and creamy components underlined by a tropical core. Match with roasted pork and chicken over the next 5 years. Handpicked fruit from Domain Road and Defiance vineyards, whole bunch pressed, and cold settled, inoculated with selected yeast, fermented in stainless steel tank 50% and French oak barriques 50%, the barrel portion was lees stirred weekly. 14% alc, 4.7 g/l RS. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $24
