Deep ruby with a purple hue, lighter on the rim. This has a gentle bouquet with aromas of dark-toned cherry, raspberry, plum and herbs. Medium-full bodied, aromas of black cherry and plum interweaved thyme, minerals and spice. Fine-grained tannins provide a dusty grip, unfolding more dark herbs and liquorice. The fruit is concentrated and perfumed; lively acidity elevates a sustained finish. This Bannockburn Pinot Noir possesses classic Banncokburn dark fruit and herbs with refined concentration and a velvety tannin structure. Match with braised duck and lamb loin over the next 6+ years. Fruit from Defiance vineyard, clones 113, 115, 943 and Abel, handpicked, fermented in stainless steel tank with 8% whole bunch, aged in French oak barriques for 10 months, 31% new oak. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2023 RRP $42
