Domain Road Defiance Pinot Gris 2020, Central Otago

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 08-Feb-2021
Bright, pale straw-yellow, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full, expressing stonefruit, pear and quice fruit's purity, melded with white floral and a five-spice dusting. Medium-full bodied, the palate is packed with aromas of juicy Nashi pear, quince jelly, peach, grapefruit with a hint of sweetness, delicate floral unveiled, along with five-spice leaves a prickly sensation. The fruit has ripeness and intensity; brilliant acidity and balanced, refreshing and lingering, haul along a fine-textured line. This is an elegant Pinot Gris with the concentration of fruit, enriched by five-spice and delicate floral. Match with siu mai and pull pork over the next 5 years. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented in stainless steel 75% and older oak barrels 25% to 13.5% alc, 10.8 g/l RS. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $27
