Domain Road Bannockburn Central Otago Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Oct-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim. The nose is light and elegant with a subtle core of pure cut grass and gooseberry fruit in the cooler spectrum, along with nutty barrel-ferment nuances. Passionfruit notes unfold with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly bound and elegantly presented flavours of cut grass, savoury passionfruit and green stonefruits show with a gentle lusciousness. The mouthfeel is soft from discreet acidity and the wine has a tight, fine, flinty, dry textured line. The wine flows with good energy, leading to a light, dry finish. This is an elegant, tightly held Sauvignon Blanc with gently luscious cool-spectrum fruit flavours and fine, dry textures. Match with seafoods, salads and vegetables, and Mediterranean fare over the next 2+ years. Estate fruit from the ‘Templar’s Hill’ and ‘Doctor’s Flat’ blocks and fermented in stainless-steel, with 24% in French oak barriques to 13.7% alc. and 4 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Oct 2014 RRP $23.00
