Domain Road Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 10-Mar-2016
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with light purple hues, a little paler edged. The nose is softly full with harmoniously melded aromas of dark red cherry and dark raspberry fruit, with subtle notes of dark plums, and a layering og thyme herbs with dark-red floral notes. This has depth and soft concentration. Medium-bodied, the palate features lusciously succulent and juicy flavours of dark red cherry and dark raspberry fruit that form an elegantly proportioned core, unfolding thyme herb and floral detail. Fine-grained, supple tannins support the fruit with integrated acidity in the background, and the wine flows with good linearity to a lingering finish of dark raspberries. This is a harmonious and succulent, supple, dark cherry and raspberry-fruited Pinot Noir with fine structure. Match with poultry and pork over the next 5+ years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 5, 6, 115, 667 and 777, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 31% new French oak barriques. 18.5/20 Mar 2016 RRP $38.00
