Hand-picked fruit, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.6% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 30% new French oak barriques. Even ruby-red colour, lighter on edge. This has an elegantly proportioned bouquet with tightly held, clear aromas of dark cherry and berry fruit entwined with lifted violet florals, dark herbs and piquant spices and subtle oak. Medium-bodied and refined in structure, tight and concentrated flavours of black and red berry fruits form a sweet amalgam with spices, oak and mineral notes. The mouthfeel features a fine-grained tannin structure and line with fresh, discreet and balanced acidity. Some alcohol power and drive carries the wine to a long and sustained finish with dark red berry fruits and herbs. This is an elegant and refined, tightly concentrated Pinot Noir with dark cherry and berry fruit and subtle spice notes. Match with duck, pork, beef and hard cheeses over the next 5-6 years. 18.0/20 Oct 2014 RRP $38.00
